Suzuki GSXR K7 – Do You Dare to “Select” The Evil?

· Filed Under GSXR Suzuki 1000, Suzuki 1000

If someone would tell you “Hey, I have got a 1000cc motorcycle!” what would be the first thought of you about it? Maybe you would think that it is fast, good looking, sexy, cool or insane! But do you really think you have any idea about the capabilities of a 1000cc bike especially if it is the GSXR K7 without riding it at least once? I would say that there are just a few places on earth where you can push this bike to its limits not to mention that you have to be a very experienced rider to be able to this magic. Just try to ride a superbike close to its limits and rather sooner than later you will experience a nasty feeling when happens after you overwhelmed the rear wheel or maybe you are just doing a beautiful wheelie in a very inappropriate time when you should lean hard in that roundabout instead of doing circus tricks. So on a 1000cc Suzuki one of the hardest goal to achieve is to stick that front tyre to the ground. Actually it is a bit uncomfortable feeling when you broke one of your mirrors in a roundabout so good that the whole bike is lying on it and kids are coming on their mopeds, pointing fingers towards you and laughing. You need to learn how to respect the bike’s power otherwise if you don’t rule it then you are in big trouble. There has been a strange gadget around for a while called traction control which was first used on race bikes but actually it interferes so much with the riding experience that I can say honestly it is a dead idea because bikes are not for those who are lazy to learn them ride properly. Here comes my favourite motor company in the picture with the Suzuki 1000 K7 because they have created the first bike ever with selectable engine and fuel mapping called the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector. With this tool at hand the engineers of Suzuki managed to give a beautiful toy in the hands of less experienced riders because what they accomplished is actually two bikes in one. Let’s see how it works. It has three selectable options where A is responsible to unleash all the power this bike got which is more than a 180 bhp. Option B is the default mode which is trying to keep those horses back from going wild till up to three quarter twist on the throttle occurs and then it automatically changes back to the full power mode. Option C is where you get a bike really close in handling to a 600cc one with around a 110 bhp… to be continued… In my next post I would like to tell you more about how it handles and there are more innovations waiting to be discovered on this awesome superbike.
