Continued From the Previous Post – The GSXR K5 1000 Chassis, Performance and Make-up

· Filed Under GSXR Suzuki, Suzuki 1000

I would like to start where I left off in the previous post. By now you have more information about the engine which makes the GSXR K5 1000 superbike to be not just simply fast but ridiculously lightning quick. However this power is nothing without being properly delivered to the road and without the stable and lightweight chassis. This bike is really totally new compared to previous GSXRs and knowing this fact you can clearly see the differences. The wheelbase is 4cm shorter so this explains the unbelievable cornering speed the bike is capable of doing. The motorbike’s weight is concentrated towards the front wheel to make it more agile than ever before. The swingarm is brand new and it was manufactured from a pivot tube which was single-casted. The front suspension forks are still inverted and basically the same like on last year’s bikes but it has now diamond like coating. The wheels are improved in lightness due to the spokes are thinner. The front brakes are working on a 31cm brake discs and the master-cylinder is radial but they left the rear brake untouched. Regarding the look the opinions are quite different. I would say it is mildly aggressive with all those sharp lines mixed up with flat and round surfaces. However everyone would agree that this bike won’t go unnoticed anywhere it goes because it is very eye catchy. The front headlights are positioned vertically and they give enough space to the air intakes below them where the air pressure is the biggest to help the SRAD system to breathe. LED taillights are incorporated to the fairings alongside with the indicators to give the new Suzuki K5 a brand new modern look. It is a kind thing that the engineers now designed into the cluster a gear position indicator. If you can get your hands on one then the first thing is what you are going to notice that it feels smaller than a 600cc bike and you are right because in fact it is. So bigger riders may have problems with the riding position but nothing serious you can’t really get used to. If you ever wondered how would it feel like to own a real race bike then definitely try this Suzuki because it is really close to the perfect match. It is revving and screaming while pulling like a train and due to the close gear ratios you can accelerate faster towards whatever is in front of you than you would do on any other street bike. No more worries about the wheel lock-up because of the compression when you change back gears thanks to the slippery clutch. If you are the lucky one to own one then do not hesitate to take this beauty to the racetrack at least once in its life to get a taste about what you really bought. Just go fast with it and “lean it like you mean it”! This is the bike designed truly for one purpose to “own the racetrack”.
