The Digestion of The New GSXR 750 2008 Continues…
Just to pick up where I left off, the new GSXR 750 2008 is on the plate to digest… Nowadays when the designers are making their sketches about the future shape of a particular bike they always keep in mind the creation of a nice but purposeful exhaust to go with it. It is a hard job to do because they have to keep up with the latest emission regulations plus they don’t want to lose power as well. The exhaust has to be in the most aerodynamically efficient shape and it has to give enough room for cornering. Titanium has become the most used material in exhausts due to weight issues. In Suzuki Bikes there is a SET (Suzuki Exhaust Tuning) to match the exhaust back-pressure to throttle position, rpm and selected gear and this way the torque becomes optimal throughout the rev range. But in order to achieve big engine power the quality of the ignition spark is absolute essential and therefore the iridium spark plugs are a wise choice with their double lifetime compared to conventional plugs. Like most of today’s electronic equipment the K8 GSXR 750’s whole electronic system is controlled by a computer with 32-bit CPU (Central Processing Unit) and 1 MB memory. This brain is responsible for the proper functioning of the SDMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) which has three selectable engine power maps and it is possible to change between them instantly so you can find the best one to suit your individual riding needs on different parts of the track. The perfect fuel injection system nowadays is totally standard in GSXR bikes and its soul is the SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) where the primary valve operated by the rider and the secondary valve operated by the computer. More technical gadgets were built into this bike than you would find in a spaceship because there is also a newly designed ISC (Idle Speed Control) to make cold starts as smooth as possible by injecting more fresh air into the cylinders based on cooling liquid temperature. By the way just to mention the new 2008 GSXR 750 is pretty good with strict emission rules and it clears easily the very though Euro 3. As usual the pursuit of perfection continues with revised frame for more stability at silly leaning angles and also the gixxer got lighter wheels with three spokes curved towards the rotation direction. About the braking department the four-piston Tokico calipers bite with such a massive force that they make those wild three-digit speeds closing to zero pretty fast. Regarding the appearance it doesn’t really matter from which angle you staring at the bike because all you can see is pure beauty. Vertically placed headlights, embedded turn signals into the mirrors and into the rear fairing, LED rear lights are all part of the masterpiece. It has an elegant and slim shape but with a little suggestion of power. All in all this bike is so well built that it has the potential to take your breath away by what you can achieve on the track and it does a so damn good job, even you will convince yourself that you are a professional racetrack rider.
